These ancient anti-magic swords were forged by the Elf Tribe during Licht's era specifically to combat devils, rather than being crafted by a human smith or created by Zagred. They are hidden within Asta's Grimoire until he found it in a cave near Hage, where his unique constitution allowed him to wield them. The blades are intrinsically linked to the devil Liebe, who resides within Asta's Grimoire and later inside Asta himself; however, Liebe possesses no magic power and does not supply the energy for these weapons. Instead, Asta's body generates its own anti-magic due to his unique constitution. This symbiotic relationship allows the arsenal to adapt; as Asta's resolve strengthens and his physical limits are pushed, he summons specific swords like the Demon-Slayer Sword, Demon-Dweller Sword, Demon-Defier Sword, and Black Divider. The fifth leaf of the grimoire represents Liebe himself, not a fifth physical blade named 'Demon-Catcher'. Each sword grants unique capabilities, such as the ability to sever spatial distortions, while flight via anti-magic wings is derived from Asta's Grimoire or Devil Union form, not an inherent function of the individual blades. The supportive environment of the Black Bulls helps Noelle overcome these psychological barriers while she develops romantic feelings for Asta. Her combat prowess grows significantly during battles against threats like the Eye of the Midnight Sun and the elf Kivin, where she masters water-based armor techniques. A pivotal turning point occurs when she learns her mother was killed by Megicula, driving her to train with Undine to defeat the devil responsible. Though killed by Patry during the elf conflict, he resurrected in a younger form with diminished power to continue advising the Magic Knights.
